“After all, just one virus on a computer is one too many.”
Our company, SEO for High Ranking, your SEO / Search Engine Marketing headquarters, builds traffic to client websites for continuous business growth. Optimization starts with a well-structured, dynamic website that employs what is known as a content management system, or CMS. Interestingly, in recent months, many small businesses have turned to WordPress, a powerful CMS based web tool. Because it creates blogs and websites in a very straight-forward fashion, and is very easily indexed by Google, it is growing in popularity.
But there are side effects your business might not be aware of as you create your social media strategy. Unfortunately, criminal elements are in everything you do. Any business can type a keyword, including your business, into the search engine; when the intended site pops up, it can quickly be redirected to graphic and lurid images and sites.
Although you can shut down the site, panic can indeed set in. These websites can be hacked in a devious ways. Script can be injected creating mass redirection.
These types of horrific client experiences have created a new mission for our company.
We have learned that vulnerabilities are not always with the server (computers where websites reside). Rather, malicious software is introduced through the inherent weaknesses with WordPress itself.
Here are the facts: these websites, when set up, have up to two dozen areas that can easily be exploited by malware programs and by experienced and knowledgeable hackers. Most developers simply are not aware of these flaws and think plugins will manage and minimize the issues. That is not the case.
Google can and does take these sites down when they involve inappropriate activity.
A hacked site impacts:
- Web visibility
- Business traffic
- Business reputation
- Productivity
- Time and repair cost
- Critical revenue

The only issue I have ever had is with my laptop computer. It seems if your laptop is under virus or hacker attack then so is your wordpress site. It doesn’t matter much if you attempt to secure wordpress if your computer is at risk.
I used norton and it was terrible. I got hit twice by the FBI malware.
Suggest using a strong password and several AV programs on your laptop.
